Propoxyphene (PPX)

What is it?

Propoxyphene is an opioid pain reliever that eases mild to moderate pain. As of November 19, 2010, the FDA requested companies to withdraw propoxyphene from the US market due to studies showing how this pain reliever can cause dangerous toxicity to the heart even when used in therapeutic doses. It changes the electrical activity of the heart and increases risk of serious abnormal heart rhythms.
