This is a controversial query. The digital baby monitor operates on a 2.4GHz frequency. Most WiFi compatible devices operate at 5.8 GHz or more. There are only 3 major channels that have the ability to overlap. Some suggest using a double router to avoid such possibilities of interference.

The popularity of the 2.4 GHz can be found in many wireless devices as well, such as cordless phones. This frequency range was relatively unused a few years ago, it offered a high level of interference- free operation for the wireless devices that used it. Therefore, there is potential for interference such as causing static with the baby monitor when a cordless phone rings. The WiFi itself may cause the baby monitor to temporarily disable, but the WiFi should not be affected.
